Climate:
Througout the year the average temperature does not change much due the fact that Colombia is situated in the proximity of the equator.
However there is a dry season (verano) and a rainy season (invierno), Although there are no true season patterns in Colombia, More important for climate changes, like rainfall and temperatura are altitude differences. For example, the lowlands have a hot climate, while some mountains have permanent snow.
verage temperatures range from over 30°C on the Caribbean coast to 12°C on high mountain plateaus. In general, there are two main seasons, the wet season from March to May and September to November and the dry season from December to February and June to August. Except in the northern plains where there is only one long wet season from May to October. Average temperature ranges in Bogotá are from 10°C to 18°C in July to 9°C to 20°C in February.
Safety:
This is probably the biggest concern for the most of you. And for a good reason as Colombia doesn't have the best reputation. But travellers to Colombia are immediately amazed by how ordinary everyday life is.
Colombia has places which are best to avoid ( “ bad” parts), but it has also many beautiful places that are safe to be visited. The safety situation has changed a lot in the last years. To ensure safety the government has put a lot of militaries on the road. Colombia is safer to travel in than most other South American countries.
We are living for a while in Colombia and met a lot of visitors and guests and every single one of them had only nice stories to tell. Most of them also liked Colombia more than any other South American country.
